NYC Asylum Seeker Resource Navigation Center: If you are an asylum seeker who has just arrived in New York City, you can get free and confidential help at the Asylum Seeker Resource Navigation Center. You will need to schedule an appointment through NYC shelter staff or a community-based partner office. View more information on the website.
The Center will connect you with services and resources, including but not limited to:
Health insurance enrollment
Healthcare services and appointments
Mental health counseling
School enrollment
Child services
Immigration legal services
IDNYC (Municipal Identification) enrollment
Legal Services NYC provides free legal assistance via a hotline that is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 4 pm to direct you to free legal help, regardless of the issue you are facing. The hotline can be called at 917-661-4500, and has a multitude of language options for non-English speakers.
CLINIC is a Catholic organization with a large resource network of assistance to immigrants and refugees. CLINIC specializes in aiding religious workers or migrants in the USA. They can be contacted at RIS@cliniclegal.org or 301.565.4832.

Afrikana is a migrant community center that can assist with applying for free Metro Cards, SNAP food benefits, IDNYC*, and more. Afrikana can provide medical attention to those who need it. Every Friday, a food pantry is available to migrants. There is a daily prayer held by Imam Omar Niass. Afrikana is open Monday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
* IDNYC is a free government-issued photo ID card for people 10 years old and older who live in NYC. It can help you get access to many services and programs offered by NYC.
